My Beginnings
I'm a trauma focused psychologist based in Boston. Though I've been living in Boston for over 20 years, I'll always be a New Yorker at heart.
My journey into the mental health field began at Harvard Medical School, where I worked on the largest national and international psychiatric epidemiology studies. During my time there, I gained a deep understanding of the widespread impact of trauma on individuals and communities.
AFTER 10 YEARS IN RESEARCH...
I knew that I wanted to help individuals on a more personal level, rather than from behind a desk...
My Training
I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology at William James College. I was accepted to train at Bessel van der Kolk’s internationally renowned Trauma Center. It was there that I was introduced to the brilliant minds in the complex trauma field which inspired me to expand my training to include:
✓ EMDR
✓ Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
✓ Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
✓ Attachment Regulation and Competency (ARC)
✓ Internal Family Systems/Ego State Work
✓ SMART
✓ Trauma Informed Yoga
✓ Hypnosis
✓ Polyvagal Theory
A Rude Awakening
My training in trauma therapy gave me the tools and knowledge to support individuals who have experienced trauma, but it also opened my eyes to the challenges faced by the trauma community.
As a BIPOC clinician, I was often one of the only people of color at these trainings, which were almost always led by white trainers. This lack of diversity was disheartening, but it wasn't the only issue.
Therapists often spoke about feeling alone in private practice. As someone who values community and connection, this isolation didn't sit well with me.
Building a Supportive Community
Motivated by stories from trauma therapists who felt alone and different, I founded Beacon Therapy Group, a welcoming and inclusive space where therapists from diverse backgrounds can support one another, share knowledge, and provide the best possible care for our clients. We all speak the language of complex trauma and dissociation, and I’m incredibly proud of the community we've built.
But my work didn’t stop there. To expand access to high-quality trauma training, I launched Integrated Trauma Training Institute —a nonprofit dedicated to equipping therapists and organizations with the skills to offer effective, culturally responsive trauma care.
While I’ve often preferred working behind the scenes, my passion for creating change through trauma therapy has compelled me to do more. My work is far from finished, and I remain committed to growing this mission.
Which Brings Me to You
My vision is to heal the effects of trauma by increasing the number and diversity of trauma-informed therapists.
Through my training courses and consultation services, we can expand the trauma community and make an even greater impact.
Whether you're a new clinician or an experienced professional, I'm here to support you so that together, we can help even more people on their journey towards healing.
